The Explosives Centre is responsible for the production, maintenance and decommissioning of explosives in the Defence Forces.

30.4.2026 | The multinational air defence exercise Mallet Strike 1/26 will be conducted at the Lohtaja Firing Range and Training Area from 12 - 21 May 2026.

12.12.2025 | On 12 December 2025, Minister of Defence Antti Häkkänen authorised the Defence Forces Logistics Command to procure AIM-120D-3 Advanced Medium Range Air-to-Air Missiles (AMRAAM) from the United States. The missiles are compatible with the F-35A multirole fighters.

The Logistics School provides logistics training included in officer training degrees, on the basis of the needs of the services, and conducts research activities aimed at developing the Defence Forces logistics system.

The troops of the Defence Forces and their equipment constitute the capabilities of Finland’s defence system, the development of which is long-term and based on thorough planning. The Defence Forces Logistics Command participates in this work in all of its phases.

27.3.2026 | Viikko sitten päättynyt Cold Response 26 -harjoitus toi mukanaan Pohjois-Suomen harjoitusalueelle tuhansien sotilaiden lisäksi myös myönteisiä taloudellisia ja alueellisia hyötyjä. Harjoitus on vahvistanut sekä paikallista elinvoimaa että Suomen kykyä toimia liittolaisten kanssa.

23.3.2026 | Pohjois-Norjassa ja Pohjois-Suomessa järjestetty kansainvälinen Nato-harjoitus Cold Response 26 päättyi ilman vakavia onnettomuuksia. Tuhansien sotilaiden ja satojen ajoneuvojen operaatio toteutettiin onnistuneesti Lapin vaativassa talviympäristössä, mikä osoitti liittokunnan kyvyn ylläpitää korkeaa turvallisuustasoa haastavissa olosuhteissa.

23.3.2026 | Den internationella Nato-övningen Cold Response 26 som hölls i norra Finland har avslutats utan allvarliga olyckor. Operationen med tusentals soldater och hundratals fordon genomfördes framgångsrikt i Lapplands krävande vintermiljö, vilket visade alliansens förmåga att upprätthålla en hög säkerhetsnivå under extrema förhållanden.

The 1st Logistics Regiment supports the administrative units of the Defence Forces and the Border Guard in the organisation of logistics and support in all states of readiness. As a special feature, the Regiment is responsible for the storage and condition monitoring of explosive material.

The Defence Forces Logistics Command is responsible for materiel acquisitions for the Defence Forces, the operational capability of troops, personnel and systems, and the availability of materiel.

The Joint Systems Centre is responsible for the management of the technical life cycle of the Finnish Defence Forces' systems and materiel and their maintenance. It also answers for the technical preparation of procurements.

The 2nd Logistics Regiment supports the administrative units of the Defence Forces and the Border Guard in the organisation of logistics and support in all states of readiness. As for its special features, the Regiment conducts maintenance tasks related to the Navy’s special materiel and services involving clothing, tents and field accommodation, field provisioning and medical materiel in the Defence Forces.

The Logistics Command Headquarters is responsible for the overall planning and coordination of the activities of the Command and it directs the administrative units under it.

The 3rd Logistics Regiment supports the administrative units of the Defence Forces and the Border Guard in the organisation of logistics and support in all states of readiness. As a special feature, the Regiment provides materiel resupply and maintenance services for military aviation.

11.5.2026 | Minister of Defence Antti Häkkänen has authorised the Defence Forces Logistics Command to procure thermal clip-on optics, related equipment, and spare parts for sniper and designated marksman rifles. The value of the procurement, excluding value-added tax, is approximately EUR 24.5 million.

The Defence Forces and civilian society actors network together and pursue cooperation in the framework of partnerships, which is a precondition for the operation of the Defence Forces’ logistics system in normal and emergency circumstances.

27.3.2026 | Övningen Cold Response 26, som avslutades förra fredagen, förde tusentals soldater till övningsområdet i Norra Finland och gav betydande ekonomiska och regionala fördelar. Övningen stärkte både den lokala livskraften och Finlands förmåga att verka tillsammans med allierade.

The Defence Forces logistics system is an entity formed by the Defence Forces and its partners enabling the operations of the troops of Defence Forces and the development of its capabilities in all states of readiness.
