Lapland Steel 25 to validate the capability of conscripts to muster out into the reserve in December and to strengthen coordinated joint operating of allies

The Jaeger Brigade -led LIVEX Lapland Steel 25 will be held at Rovajärvi training exercise and range area during 26.11.–5.12.2025.

The exercise aims to demonstrate the defending capability and joint operating capability of the primary training audience under the demanding early winter conditions at the area of operations of the Jaeger Brigade. The exercise will also validate the competence level of conscripts who are about to muster out into the reserve in December as well as that of reservists participating in refresher training exercises.

Alongside the forces of the Finnish Defence Forces, the exercise will also be participated by forces from the Finnish Border Guard, as well as allies’ forces from Sweden and the UK. The total strength of the exercise will be up to c. 1,200 personnel, of whom c. 120 will be from Sweden and c. 100 from the UK. The exercise will be commanded by Commander of the Jaeger Brigade, Colonel Marko Kivelä.

”The Lapland Steel 25 -exercise will test our forces’ operating capability under the demanding conditions of early winter in Central Lapland. As the battle group and ground-based air defence battalion fight alongside the Border Guard forces and our allies, we also get to train coordinated joint operating and fires that are key to success in defence battle”, says Colonel Kivelä.
