The Commander of the Finnish Defence Forces, General Janne Jaakkola, will participate in the meeting of the European Union Military Committee on 14-15. October 2024 in Budapest, Hungary.

The European Union Military Committee meeting will involve the commanders of the armed forces of the EU member states. The meeting will address current security situation, crisis management operations, assistance to Ukraine as well as current matters of capability development.

The European Union Military Committee directs all EU military activities, in particular the planning and implementation of military tasks and operations under the Common Security and Defence Policy (CSDP), as well as the development of military capabilities. The EUMC provides its best and timely military advice and direction to make the EU a stronger and more capable security provider for its Member States.

The Chairman of the European Union Military Committee (CEUMC), General Robert Brieger visited Finland from 26 to 28 June 2024. The visitation program included visits to the National Emergency Supply Agency, the European Centre of Excellence for Countering Hybrid Threats (Hybrid CoE) and the Guard Jaeger Regiment.
