Nordic Cadet Meeting in Turku next month

Nordic Cadet Meeting (NOCA) will be held in Turku on 7-11 August 2024. NOCA is an annual sports and seminar event for naval cadets, organized by each Nordic country in alternate years.

The opening ceremony of the event, gathering together and presenting all national teams, will take place on 7 August at 6.30 pm at Varvintori, Turku. The event in Turku will be attended by 300 cadets from Finland, Sweden, Denmark and Norway, and it is directed by the Commandant of the Naval Academy. 

NOCA aims at strengthening the relations between Nordic naval cadets and Naval Academies. This is achieved through various sports competitions and both official and unofficial meetings. Cadets will compete, for example, in football, swimming, cross-country running and rope pulling.
The sites and venues of sports and seminar events are located all around Turku. The following events will be open to the public:

- opening ceremony on Wed, 7 August, at 6.30 pm at Varvintori
- football tournament on Sat, 10 August, from 9 am to 12 (noon) at Sports Park, upper pitch
- Naval Combat Course on Sat, 10 August, from 1.30 to 4.30 pm, at Paavo Nurmi Stadium
- Rope pulling on Sat, 10 August, from 5 to 6.15 pm at Varvintori.
