The Finnish Defence Forces Logistics Command became operational on 1 January 2015 as the Materiel Commands of the Army, Navy and Air Force were disbanded and their activities were reorganised into the Logistics Command.

20.7.2026 | The President of the Republic has appointed Colonel Antti Lautala to the general staff for the period 1 September 2026 to 31 August 2031 and has ordered him to serve as Deputy Section Chief at Allied Command Transformation in Norfolk, USA.

The Defence Forces logistics system is an entity formed by the Defence Forces and its partners enabling the operations of the troops of Defence Forces and the development of its capabilities in all states of readiness.

18.6.2026 | On 18 June 2026, Finnish Minister of Defence Antti Häkkänen authorised the Finnish Defence Forces Logistics Command to purchase GBU-53 Small Diameter Bomb II (SDB II) glide bombs from the United States. Glide bombs will be used in Finnish Air Force F-35A multirole fighters.

The Logistics Command works with domestic and foreign cooperation partners on a regular basis in order to carry out its task to ensure the efficient use of the Defence Forces’ capabilities and execution of operations in all circumstances.

7.7.2026 | Finland has acceded to the Multi Role Tanker Transport (MRTT) capability programme. The accession gives Finland access to flight hours with Airbus A330 MRTT multirole aircraft and strengthens Finland’s contribution to the development of NATO’s shared capabilities in aerial refuelling, strategic airlift and medical evacuation.

15.7.2026 | Recruits who started their service in the Lapland Jaeger Battalion and the Rovaniemi Air Defence Battalion swear the military oath or give the military affirmation in Keminmaa on Saturday, 8 August. The ceremony is held on the Keminmaa School Campus and sports field.

12.12.2025 | On 12 December 2025, Minister of Defence Antti Häkkänen authorised the Defence Forces Logistics Command to procure AIM-120D-3 Advanced Medium Range Air-to-Air Missiles (AMRAAM) from the United States. The missiles are compatible with the F-35A multirole fighters.
