The Joint Systems Centre is responsible for the management of the technical life cycle of the Finnish Defence Forces' systems and materiel and their maintenance. It also answers for the technical preparation of procurements.

26.5.2026 | Norway has signed the Common Armoured Vehicle System (CAVS) Framework Agreement which allows serial procurement of CAVS 6x6 vehicles. The CAVS Framework Agreement has been already signed between Finland, Latvia, Sweden, Germany and Denmark.

21.5.2026 | The second Pohjanmaa-class multi-role corvette to be built for the Navy has been launched in Rauma. The vessel was moved from the construction hall to the dock basin where the building and outfitting of the vessel will continue. A festive launch ceremony was celebrated in Rauma on 21 May.

28.5.2026 | Finland and Latvia signed an Implementing Arrangement on the joint development of a Common Protected Vehicle (CPV) system and related technologies in Tampere on 28 May 2026. The arrangement also enables future serial procurement.

The Explosives Centre is responsible for the production, maintenance and decommissioning of explosives in the Defence Forces.

22.5.2026 | The Finnish Air Force conducted an evaluation of a cyber team composed of active-duty personnel and reservists together with the Virginia Air National Guard in April 2026.

20.4.2026 | The Government Defence Report (VNS 2024) mentions the modernisation of minesweeping capabilities of contact and influence mines, which is set to begin with replacing the ageing Kuha and Kiiski class vessels. The vessels were built in the 1970s and 1980s, and extending their life cycle is no longer cost-effective.

1.6.2026 | The strong and long-standing cooperation between the Finnish Defence Forces and the French Armed Forces continues. The French Chief of Defence, General Fabien Mandon’s visit to Finland on 1-2 June 2026 is hosted by the Commander of the Finnish Defence Forces, General Janne Jaakkola.

21.5.2026 | Air Defence Exercise Mallet Strike 1/26, conducted in the Lohtaja firing range and training area, has ended.

21.5.2026 | The Guard Jaeger Regiment will train with other authorities in Helsinki, Espoo and Vantaa on 24–28 May 2026.

24.2.2026 | Hull assembly of the second Pohjanmaa-class multi-role corvette being built for the Finnish Navy was completed at the turn of the year at the Rauma shipyard. The vessel has received its grey protective coating, and part of the protective covering has been removed.

10.11.2025 | The Finnish Defence Forces and Patria have updated their Strategic Partnership Agreement. The agreement ensures that the Defence Forces’ military aviation assets, naval defence systems, and command and control systems remain operational throughout their life cycle in all security situations.

23.10.2025 | The Finnish Defence Forces Logistics Command’s Logistics School participated in the Nordic Logistic School meeting held at Aalborg Barracks in Denmark in October. The event brought together logistics experts from Finland, Sweden, Norway and Denmark to exchange experiences and develop new solutions to strengthen the Nordic countries’ ability to support military operations in the region.

22.5.2026 | Commander of the Finnish Army, Lieutenant General Pasi Välimäki inspected the light infantry exercise Saber Strike 26 on 19-20 May. In the current phase of the exercise, Rock Sisu, units from Allied countries train in the Vuosanka training area independently.

29.5.2026 | Norwegian student pilots who completed the Hawk training phase at the Air Force Academy have now graduated from F-35 training in the United States.

14.1.2026 | The Squadron 2020 programme is progressing as planned. Steel cutting for the fourth Pohjanmaa-class multi-role corvette has commenced, and the keel of the third vessel has been laid in accordance with naval tradition at the Rauma Marine Constructions (RMC) shipyard. With these milestones, construction of all vessels included in the programme is now underway.

18.12.2025 | The Finnish Defence Forces will acquire additional unmanned aerial systems (UAS) suitable for intelligence, surveillance and reconnaissance (ISR) as well as target acquisition, including associated equipment and spare parts. Deliveries of the systems will begin at the start of next year.

9.9.2025 | The Defence Forces Logistics Command hosted the NATO Asset Tracking Capabilities Interoperability Campaign 2025 (ATCIC25) exercise from 20 to 29 August, focusing on the development of digital solutions to enhance Alliance logistics.

5.11.2025 | The agreement enables the procurement of tactical communication systems and products, software-defined radios, secure software, and telephones, as well as joint product development.

12.12.2025 | On 12 December 2025, Minister of Defence Antti Häkkänen authorised the Defence Forces Logistics Command to procure AIM-120D-3 Advanced Medium Range Air-to-Air Missiles (AMRAAM) from the United States. The missiles are compatible with the F-35A multirole fighters.
