Procurement of Domestically Produced FPV Drones from Insta Group Oy

On 24 August, the Finnish Defence Forces signed an agreement for the procurement of unmanned FPV drones from Insta Group Oy. The total value of the contract, including options, is 14 million euros.

The contract was signed by Brigadier General Engineering Juha-Matti Ylitalo, the Deputy Chief of the Finnish Defence Forces Logistics Command and Tuure Lehtoranta, Senior Vice President, Sales, Marketing and Government Relations at Insta.

The procurement is a part of the Finnish Defence Forces’ long-term program development of drone and unmanned systems capabilities. The FPV (First Person View) drone systems that are now being procured for training purposes – but also have the capability of carrying armament and other payloads – will expand the unmanned systems training of conscripts to all brigade-level units and continue the systematic, multi-tiered development of drone capabilities.

The systems to be procured are manufactured in Finland. The contract also includes training, spare parts and maintenance services.

The importance of unmanned systems as part of modern warfare has grown in recent years, and the Finnish Defence Forces develops their operating and training concepts with determination. The Finnish Army began training conscripts at the Army Academy to operate FPV drones in autumn 2025. From the beginning of year 2026, the training has been extended to other brigade-level units.
